Sacai Fall 2019 Ready-To-Wear Collection Review

There's only a number of ways designers can approach layering, but trust Chitose Abe of Sacai-fame to go for the more artistic route. As if her beautifully constructed clothes weren't enough, she also magnified her line's visual appeal with a little help from abstract artist, Jackon Pollock.

---------------------------------------------------------------

No one does layering quite like . It’s arguably the bread and butter of her fashion brand, , and in her , she flexed her layering muscles in a way that only she can do. Granted layering has been a big trend in recent seasons, Abe’s approach was never for the sake of runway gimmicks. Even when dissected, each piece conveys an interesting thought, further contributing to the authenticity of her style. This season, her narrative is much more artistic, taking on the abstract musings of artist as her print of choice. Decorated on sleeveless coats, round-ish trenches, and a pleated maxi dress, the motif itself was another layer of sorts. Abe herself isn’t afraid to mix it up, color-wise, too. A series of ensembles in military-green with hints of cobalt blue provided a somber palette-cleanser which were strange yet interesting at the same time. And closing the show were all-black-everything looks that appeared simple, but layers upon layers of clothes and ideas lingered in each exit. Such was the genius of Chitose Abe’s signature aesthetic and how she can spin it in a totally different and unexpected way.

Sacai Fall 2019 Ready-To-Wear Collection Review
